Building Retail 2025

Join Eric Goranson, CKD, for an exciting look at what the future of building retail looks like, as the NRLA kicks off the 125th Annual LBM Expo.

About this session

Your customer base is quickly changing. Generation Z in 2020 will make up 40% of all consumers. Generation Z is the first mobile generation as they have had access to phones their entire lives. Millennial’s and Generation X will quickly adapt to new technologies as they have done it for decades already. Social media is a lifestyle and not a form of entertainment. These trends will transform the retail environment in Lumber Dealers as well.

Right now you can look at an iPhone X and facial recognition software unlocks the phone instead of a password. This technology is now in the retail environment where you could tell if your key customers are in your building, in real time. With more and more consumers not wanting to wait on hold, but wanting to look at their phone or tablet for the same information, how are you going to adjust your business to keep up with big-box retailers that will spend hundreds of millions of dollars to bring your customers into their locations? We will talk about how you can use technology, social media, and your experienced staff to be THE experts of information, for generations like never before.
